Carol Bush on the MCA Telehealth Network

Carol Bush, BS, RN, from the The University of Kansas Cancer Center, on the Midwest Cancer Alliance Telehealth Network

Carol J. Bush, BS, RN, Patient Navigator, Midwest Cancer Alliance, The University of Kansas Cancer Center, discusses the telehealth network used by the Midwest Cancer Alliance (MCA) to provide access to the ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy training for oncology nurses in rural areas.

MCA uses the telemedicine program to promote evidence-based cancer care across the multiple centers in rural Kansas and Missouri. The program uses interactive televideo-conferencing to deliver professional education both for physicians and nurses.

The program delivers the information in a way that does not require a certified trainer to travel to the rural locations, which is sometimes over 400 miles away. This ultimately saves both time and money while allowing the trainers to remain active in their institutions.
