Raoul Concepcion, MD, director of the Comprehensive Prostate Center, discusses the impending transition to a value-based model in urology.

The field is moving away from the traditional fee-for-service and many physicians have been hesitant to believe in the switch due to the high rate of tweaking and revising within the value-based system by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

As per the CMS website, value-based programs are focused on paying providers based on the quality of care they give, not the quantity.
