Dr. Djouder on the Role of Liver Regeneration in HCC

Nabil Djouder, PhD, discusses the role of liver regeneration in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Nabil Djouder, PhD, head of the Growth Factors, Nutrients and Cancer Group at CNIO Cancer Center in Madrid, Spain, discusses the role of liver regeneration in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Cirrhosis is believed to be a risk factor for HCC. However, Djouder believes liver regeneration resulting from cirrhosis may act as a protective mechanism from HCC.

Djouder adds that drugs that block IL-17a, a proinflammatory cytokine, could aid in treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and HCC.
