Jihad Kaouk, MD, urologist, Cleveland Clinic, discusses how robot-assisted partial nephrectomy for selected renal mass using off-clamp approach offered renal functional advantage over on-clamp approach.

In this analysis, 309 patients had on-clamp partial nephrectomy, which shuts down the blood supply, explains Kaouk. The other group had 103 patients who received the off-clamp approach.

It was shown that patients who received the off-clamp approach had a renal function advantage over the on-clamp approach group.
