There has been significant progress toward understanding genetic variations in patients with multiple myeloma.
Through the use of FISH testing, abnormalities such as 17p deletion are discovered. Though there are abnormalities such as translocation present at diagnosis, these may change throughout a patient’s treatment course or when they relapse, says Kumar.
