Dr. Pecora on HPV Cervical Cancer Findings

Andrew L. Pecora, MD, FACP, CPE the Chief Innovations Officer, Professor and Vice President of Cancer Services at John Theurer Cancer Center on findings from the HPV Cervical Cancer Study.

Dr. Pecora says one of the first exciting things for women who are afflicted with HPV is a study that shows these women can increase the intervals between the times they are having follow up tests and don't need to rely on pap smears as much. The data from the study shows that an HPV test is sufficient to give a woman an idea of what her risks are for the subsequent development of cervical cancer.
