Plainsboro, NJ — Dec. 3, 2014 – Joan Lunden, award-winning American journalist, bestselling author, and television host, will be the keynote speaker at the 32nd Annual Miami Breast Cancer Conference®. The CME-certified conference will take place February 26 through March 1, 2015, at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel in Miami Beach, FL.

Lunden, a national health and wellness advocate, publicly announced her battle with triple-negative breast cancer in September and has been documenting her treatment on her video blog on JoanLunden.com. At this year’s conference Lunden will share the emotional side of her journey and her highly personal perspective on optimal patient care.

As host of Good Morning America for nearly 2 decades, Lunden brought insight to top issues for millions of Americans each day. The longest running host ever on early morning television, Lunden reported from 26 countries, covered 4 presidents and 5 Olympics, and kept Americans up-to-date on how to care for their health, their families, and their homes.

Lunden's address on Saturday, February 28, is part of a 4-day CME-certified conference on breast cancer that will attract 1,000 of the world’s top minds in medical, surgical, and radiation oncology. The conference is sponsored by PER®, the go-to source for excellence in continuing medical education.

"The Miami Breast Cancer Conference® has brought together the leading national and international breast cancer physicians for over 31 years, covering all aspects of patient care," said Phil Talamo, Vice President of Independent Medical Education and Operations at PER®. "Our overall goal is to drive the best care for breast cancer patients, and we are delighted to have Joan Lunden share her story and perspective, as it will truly enrich the personal aspect of our mission to help patients."

The conference brings together leading oncologists in multiple disciplines with the aim of fostering awareness of state-of-the-art treatments in each therapeutic area and encouraging cross-team clinical cooperation. Attendees will benefit from opportunities to interact with pioneers of innovative approaches in each of these subspecialties, and to gain insight into the optimal multidisciplinary management of patients with breast cancer.

This CME-certified activity is directed at medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists interested in the treatment of patients with breast cancer. Fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, researchers, and other health care professionals interested in the treatment of breast cancer are also invited to attend.

PER® is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Incorporating instructional design with principles of adult learning, PER® sponsors multi-day congresses, 1-day update conferences, regional meetings, online case discussions, and faculty dialogues.
