As the fall conference season kicks off, the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress 2024 has captivated a variety of medical oncologists’ attention across social media channels, with data from the presidential symposiums being top of mind.

Genitourinary Cancer

  • NIAGARA (NCT03732677) trial: Thomas Powles, MBBS, MRCP, MD, professor of genitourinary oncology, director, Barts Cancer Centre at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, will present results from the phase 3 NIAGARA trial, designed to evaluate neoadjuvant durvalumab (Imfinzi) plus chemotherapy in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer.

Breast Cancer

  • KEYNOTE-522 (NCT03036488) study: Peter Schmid, FRCP, MD, PhD, professor of cancer medicine; centre lead, Centre of Experimental Cancer Medicine; director, Barts Breast Cancer Centre, will present overall survival results from the phase 3 KEYNOTE-522 study evaluating neoadjuvant pembrolizumab (Keytruda) or placebo plus chemotherapy followed by adjuvant pembrolizumab or placebo in patients with high-risk early-stage triple-negative breast cancer.

The co-hosts touch on even more presentations coming out of ESMO Congress 2024, including more data from the genitourinary space, a promising study in cervical cancer, as well as emerging technologies as the use of AI grows in popularity.
